Black History Month – Professional Organizational Support
Every industry has some form of professional organization that provides support and connections to empower a person for advancement. In the resources you will find links to different organizations focused on the uplifting of Black professions, and any of the professions could exist within an insurance organization. This article provides a highlight of one such organization, National African-American Insurance Association (NAAIA).
The NAAIA was established in 1997 in Ohio by Mr. Jerald L Tillman, LUTCF. The goal of Mr. Tillman was to provide a platform for African-American insurance professionals to network and share information for career development and opportunities. This organization does not limit itself to any single type of position or business segment. The organization includes any correlated industries to insurance. There are several Chapters throughout the country, and if there is not one near you it might be a great opportunity to start one!
There is an offering for those seeking support and those seeking to learn more. No matter who you are, considering being a member or supporter of the NAAIA, or any other like organization. Participation and membership could benefit you, those you work with, and your employer – or your business if you are an owner. The organizations listed within the resources below barley scratch the surface, keep searching to find one that fits you best.
