Trucker, 79, Has Covered 4 Million Miles Accident-Free – Claims Journal

On a lighter note… The last time we saw trucker Don Cook, his career odometer had just rolled over to 3 million miles. He hadn’t had an accident in all that time, and his company, YRC Freight, gave him a truck cab with his name on it and a leather jacket with a patch reading “Three Million Miles Safe Driving.”  That was nine years ago. Cook was 70 then, and it stood to reason he would retire before long. But here he was at the YRC terminal in Bethlehem Township on Friday, about nine months shy of 80, wearing a new leather jacket with a patch reading “Hall of Fame.” He has been enshrined among the trucking legends there because he has, since 2012, racked up an additional million flawless miles.

Crypto Insurer Evertas Raises $5.8M in Seed Funding – Insurance Journal

Evertas, a cryptoasset insurance company, said it has raised nearly $5.8 million in seed funding, which it will use to accelerate product development, increase its insurance cap[a city and build out its infrastructure… The insurer is focused on covering institutional holders of cryptoassets, which include exchanges, custodians, traditional financial institutions, funds, family offices and ultra-high net worth individuals.

In the Central American tech space — so often overshadowed by larger Latin American markets — Hugo, as it’s commonly known, is a giant. The company also operates in Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica and had reportedly been estimated to rake in $50 million in yearly revenue before its series A round in 2020. Hugo holds around 90% of the last-mile market share in many of the countries it has entered. Investors are starting to take notice, including those who were early employees at Pipedrive, Taxify, and Skype. The startup’s initial funding up to its series A round was worth $13.6 million.
