Lemonade Revving Up to Enter Car Insurance Market – Insurance Journal

Lemonade, the insurance company that uses artificial intelligence and behavioral economics, plans to add car insurance to its current renters, homeowners, pet and life insurance offerings in the U.S… The insurtech announced it is readying what it calls Lemonade Car for launch within the year. It is inviting customers to register early.  This is the company’s third expansion into a major new insurance category in less than 12 months. The company started with homeowners products, adding pet insurance in the second half of 2020, and term life insurance in the first half of 2021.

Next Insurance Launches Commercial Property Coverage – Digital Insurance

Next Insurance is adding commercial property coverage to its suite of offerings, a move the insurtech says allows it to provide a full suite of coverages for its small business customers… The company now offers the new coverage alongside business personal property, business income, building insurance and equipment breakdown coverage. Next's target customers for the full suite are businesses like restaurants, retailers, and small professional offices such as photographers, says head of insurance Basil Enan.

Amazon Opens Its First Hair Salon, Where Customers Can Use Augmented Reality to Experiment with Hair Colors – Business Insider

“US retail giant Amazon on Tuesday opened its first-ever hairdressing salon, in London, UK.  Customers can experiment with different hair colors using an augmented reality app before deciding on their style, Amazon said.  Amazon salon is only open to Amazon employees to begin with.  It would open to the public in coming weeks.  Amazon said there were no plans to open other salons, adding that it was “an experiential venue where we showcase new products and technology.”

A GEICO Data Breach Let Cyber Fraudsters Steal Customers’ Driver’s License Numbers – Gizmodo

Car insurance giant GEICO has quietly disclosed that a recent security breach allowed cyber thieves to steal customers’ driver’s license information right off the company’s website…  While it’s not totally clear how big the breach was, the state’s disclosure requirements are pegged to incidents affecting more than 500 state residents. We reached out to GEICO and will update this story if we hear back from them.
